Environmental Justice in Technology Fellowship
Name tag from the 2025 Smell Atlas pilot workshop, developed under the EJIT fellowship. The Smell Atlas is a mapping tool exploring the correlations between smells and environmental injustices.
Supporting students and early-career technologists to center environmental justice in their work. Fellows join a community of peers, mentors, and movement allies while developing projects that bridge climate, technology, and justice.
Launched in 2021, the EJIT (Environmental Justice in Technology) Fellowship has nurtured emerging leaders who are redefining the relationship between justice and technology. Each fellow receives mentorship, stipends, and support to pursue projects that span research, pedagogy, and cultural production - from speculative fiction anthologies and zines to climate data analysis and digital games. Alumni have gone on to advance justice-centered approaches in academia, media, and grassroots organizing, demonstrating the Fellowship’s role as a pipeline for change.
